St Andrews

Old Course St Andrews💙Ballot only

The Old Course can't be booked outright — it runs a daily ballot (a lottery), so a tee time is never guaranteed.

What entering the ballot means

  1. The day before the draw

    Finish your day with a round elsewhere and drive in — or keep travel light with one booked nearby in Fife or Perthshire — then settle in around St Andrews for the evening: Swilcan Bridge photos (walkable on Sundays, when the Old Course rests), dinner in town, the British Golf Museum. Enter that evening's ballot for the next day.

  2. The day of the draw

    Your nearby round is booked and paid for as your guaranteed game. Win the ballot and you swap it for the Old Course itself — the bucket-list round on the Home of Golf. Note: the forfeited round is already paid and can't be refunded at the last minute (for obvious reasons); and the Old Course course fees, plus any separate travel from the group if your ballot tee time doesn't align with the group's pre-booked round, are the winning ballotee's own cost, settled on the day. Miss out and there's no harm done — you play your booked round, having already had your St Andrews day.
