Opened in 2000, Kingsbarns proves a links need not be ancient to be great. Kyle Phillips shaped a course that looks as though it has always been here, draped along the cliffs and shoreline a few miles south of St Andrews.
A modern classic
Every hole offers a view of the North Sea, and several play right along it. The ground is firm and fast, the greens are bold, and the wind decides the day. It is one leg of the annual Dunhill Links rota alongside the Old Course and Carnoustie.
